March 8th marked the official start of the campaign to find the 2024 Cork Rose, coinciding with International Women’s Day. 2023 Cork Rose, Kate Shaughnessy, launched this year’s search at Rochestown Park Hotel where the 2024 Cork Rose will be chosen on June 8th. Kate was joined by Steve Cox, Sales & Marketing Manager Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork Rose Centre Coordinators Katie Connolly and Heather Mulcahy as well Cork Rose Centre team members Shane Connolly, Lauren Faul and Nicola Mullen.
Speaking at the launch, 2023 Cork Rose Kate Shaughnessy encouraged anyone considering taking part to apply:
“‘It will be bittersweet for me as I have loved every minute of it, but I am so excited to meet all the new Cork Rose entrants and for the amazing experience they’re about to start. The people of Cork and the Cork Rose Team have been such a support to me over the last year and I have no doubt they’re about to do it all over again for the next Cork Rose’”.
Prior to the selection, entrants will enjoy several days out including a Rose tour around some of Cork’s finest establishments and landmarks in the run-up to the event. The woman chosen to represent Cork at the Rose of Tralee International Festival will enjoy a wonderful fortnight in August, beginning with the Rose Tour alongside the other national and international Roses, and once in Tralee, the chance to take part in the parades and gala functions; rounded off with her live interview on RTÉ. The Rose of Tralee International Festival will take place this year from Friday, August 16th to Tuesday, August 20th.
