The Cork Summer Show, a historic event organised by the Munster Agricultural Society, is set to be the most sustainable yet, with an array of initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental impact. As part of these efforts, attendees are encouraged to use public transport, with a special extension of the 208 bus route providing direct access to the Showgrounds at Curraheen.
Sustainability at the Heart of the Cork Summer Show
This year’s Cork Summer Show is committed to respecting the environment and minimising its ecological footprint. The Show has introduced various sustainable practices, making it easier than ever for visitors to contribute to a greener event.
Transport – It’s No Fuss, Take the Bus!
Visitors to the Cork Summer Show are urged to consider leaving their cars at home and taking advantage of public transport options. Thanks to the support from Bus Éireann, the 208 bus route has been extended to include a stop right at the entrance of the Showgrounds.
The extended 208 service will operate from 07:00 to 20:30 on both Saturday, 15 June and Sunday, 16 June, allowing ample time for attendees to enjoy the Show. This route serves a wide area of Cork City, starting at Ashmount and passing through Mayfield, Ballyhooley Road, Summer Hill, MacCurtain Street, St Patrick’s Street, UCC, Wilton, Bishopstown, and terminating at the Cork Summer Show.
Connections to other local and long-distance bus and rail services are conveniently located within a short walk in the city centre. For the best value fares, visitors are encouraged to use the Leap Card or the TFI Go app.
