- Gardaí in Cork have seized a combined €185,000 worth of ecstasy and cocaine (pending analysis) and arrested two individuals following a search in Douglas, Cork, yesterday afternoon, Saturday 21st December 2024.
The operation was conducted as part of Operation Tara, with Gardaí from the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit executing a search warrant at a residence in Douglas at approximately 4:00 pm. During the search, officers discovered and seized 15,000 ecstasy tablets, valued at an estimated €150,000, and half a kilogram of cocaine, with a street value of €35,000.
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of an offence under Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. He is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in Cork City.
Following this, a woman in her 30s was also arrested in connection with the case. She is being held under the same legislation at a Garda station in Cork County.
The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for further analysis.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
