The Last Echo – A Gritty Post-Apocalyptic Short Filmed in Cork Premieres April 12

A gripping new short film set in a world ravaged by collapse is set to premiere this week, and it has strong links to one of television’s biggest shows. The Last Echo, a post-apocalyptic thriller filmed entirely on location in Cork, Ireland, will debut on YouTube on April 12, 2024.

Jay Woodard, Writer and Director of The Last Echo, explores survival in a crumbling society through the eyes of Saoirse, a lone survivor portrayed by Hannah Henchin. With her only objective being survival, Saoirse is drawn into a violent conflict that was never her fight to begin with. Also starring Woodard himself as Eamon, the short promises intense action and emotional weight.

Set in a world that mirrors the harsh, dystopian landscape of HBO’s The Last of Us, the film serves as a compelling companion for fans of the franchise. Its release comes just two days before the highly anticipated second season of The Last of Us premieres on HBO, offering viewers a grounded yet suspenseful expansion of the genre.

Filmed against the dramatic backdrop of Cork’s rugged terrain, The Last Echo combines cinematic storytelling with local talent to create a powerful and immersive experience.

The teaser trailer is now available to view on YouTube, offering a glimpse into the world of The Last Echo. A private screening for cast, crew and family will also take place ahead of the public release.
