Garda advice for those attending either of the two GAA match fixtures taking place in Páirc Uí Chaoimh today, June 3rd 2023. Guidance from Gardaí at Anglesea Station in Cork City:
Motorists and Bus Drivers
- All those travelling from Cork and Kerry by car are advised to use the Kinsale Road roundabout
- Parking will be widely available in city centre car parks
- Do not block entrances and restrict access to to housing estates, business premises or parks
- Do not block or park on foot-paths
- Do not park in disabled spaces or at a bus stop
- Do not park in an area which may prohibit access for emergency vehicles
- Coach and bus drivers are advised to park on the Boreenmanna Road faced for the South City Link Road for ease following the games
- The drop off area for licensed Taxis is on Victoria Road, just before Marina Walk
- All other vehicles are to set down and pick upon the Boreenmanna Road, near the Maxol filling station
- Following both games, motorists will be held to allow for pedestrian safety.
Road closures along Monahan Road and Maryville will be in place from 12 noon tomorrow:
- Ardfoyle at junction with Blackrock Road
- Park Avenue at junction with Blackrock Road
- Maryville at junction with Blackrock Road
- Monahan Road at junction with Link Road (Marque Road)
- Churchyard Lane at junction with Boreenmanna Road (access for residents only)
- Churchyard Lane at junction with Blackrock Road (access for residents only)
As attendance is expected to be in the thousands, we strongly advise the use of public transport:
- The stadium is a 30 minute walk from Kent Station (Irish Rail) and a 20 minute walk from the Bus Éireann station
- The number 202 Bus Éireann bus will depart from Merchants Quay to Mahon Point every 20 minutes. This bus also travels from the city to Blackrock village and stops at Ballintemple – a 2 minute walk to the stadium via Maryville.
Those on foot are advised as follows:
- The stadium can be accessed from the city centre via Centre Park Road and Monahan Road by foot only – a 15 minute walk
- The stadium can be accessed from the Boreenmanna Road via Churchyard lane, Maryville – a 10 minute walk.
Gardaí are asking that supporters please follow the direction of both Gardaí and Stewards, be patient as they work to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable day, and get everyone home safely from the stadium.
