Saint Finbarr’s Hospital, Cork, 2023- Blackwater Motors Volkswagen have donated a 232 Polo to Blood Bike South for use in carrying out its tasks, which include transporting medical supplies during after-hours service around Cork City and County, for the sixth consecutive year.

Back in 2017 Blackwater Motors began sponsoring the charity through Ritchie Daly, their Senior Sales Executive, who works out of the Cork City Volkswagen dealership. Ritchie Daly has been a volunteer with Blood Bike South since 2016 and the saw the real need of a vehicle to assist volunteers on the days and nights where bad weather would prevent the bikes from being on the road and curtail those vital deliveries to hospitals and clinics. After identifying this problem, Ritchie approached Blackwater Motors and asked if they could provide a vehicle. It was from this moment a partnership between Blood Bike South and Blackwater Motors was established.

Present at the handover ceremony, which took place at Saint Finbarr’s Hospital, was Vice-Chairman, Kevin O’Connor from Blood Bike South along with volunteer members of the organisation and Senior Sales Executive Ritchie Daly of Blackwater Motors Volkswagen Cork City with the keys of the brand new 232 Volkswagen Polo.

Ritchie Daly, volunteer of the Blood Bike South organisation & Sales Executive Blackwater Motors Cork City, commented at the handover:

“As a volunteer with Blood Bike South, I know how much the organisation will gain from the donation of the new vehicle. I would like to express my gratitude to the Blackwater Motors Group on behalf of Blood Bike South for their invaluable support”

Blood Bike South’s services are supplied by local volunteers who donate their time to benefit their communities.
