Bandon Students Debate Major World Issues At Model United Nations


Following on from the successful Model United Nations event which was run in May 2022, St. Brogan’s College again held their very own in house SBCMUN on Tuesday 29th March.

In addition to last year, Davis College, Mallow was invited to take part in both debate and to the top table. Overall, ­­­­­­­74 students took part in the event. The event was a resounding success where Delegates conducted research before the conference: they formulated position papers and created policy proposals that they debated with other delegates on the day.

The topics up for discussion were:

Session 1: 

“The question of freedom of expression and establishing a balance between free speech and responsible behaviour”. 

Session 2: 

“The question of organ trafficking and its threat to global citizens, particularly those in developing countries’’. 

Session 3: 

“The question of religious expression and the extent of its influence in health and education” 

The top table comprised of the following students.
