Cork City Hall will be illuminated in blue and purple, the colors of Arthritis Ireland, in honor of National Arthritis Week. This week-long campaign, which runs from April 24th to 30th, aims to bring attention to this condition, which affects one in five people in Ireland.

Arthritis Ireland has chosen to highlight the stories of five inspiring individuals who are living with arthritis and are advocating for self-management. The organization hopes that by sharing their stories, they can raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of arthritis and the supports available to improve the quality of life for those living with this condition.

Tim O’Sullivan, Chairman of Arthritis Ireland, is one of these inspirational advocates. Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2011, Tim enrolled in the Living Well with Arthritis program in 2016, which transformed his life. The program introduced him to healthy eating, time management, exercise, and tools to help him maximize his consultations with his healthcare team. He encourages others with arthritis to visit the Arthritis Ireland website to access information and resources.

Arthritis Ireland provides emotional support and guidance to those living with arthritis through its dedicated helpline service and referral program. Gráinne O’Leary, Chief Executive at Arthritis Ireland, notes that one million people in Ireland are living with arthritis, and many are managing the pain and fatigue that comes with it on a daily basis. The organization hopes that National Arthritis Week will encourage people to reach out for support and take control of their lives.
