Cork Musician Releases New Anthem Ahead of All-Ireland Final

A new song celebrating Cork has emerged just in time for the county’s historic All-Ireland hurling final appearance this Sunday, offering supporters a fresh rallying cry as the Rebels prepare to face Tipperary in Croke Park.

Cathal Dunne’s “Cork My Home” was recorded in May, before Cork secured their place in the final, and could provide the perfect anthem for supporters who’ve exhausted their repertoire of “The Banks of My Own Lovely Lee”.

The accompanying music video, filmed between 2nd and 9th May, showcases Cork at its finest, featuring locations across the city and county. Fitzgerald’s Park provided the backdrop for community scenes, with locals donning the red and white turning out in support. Even the kayakers on the River Lee became willing participants in the production.

The video captures Cork’s vibrant spirit, from the colourful shops of Kinsale where Irish dancers from The Kiely-Walsh Academy brought energy to the streets, to an authentic traditional music session at Sin é pub on Coburg Street. Local musicians from Benny’s Academy of Irish Singers joined the session, along with Seán Long, lead guitarist from Cobh.

Community groups rallied behind the project, including Mayfield Men’s Shed, members of Cork Penny Dinners’ High Hopes Choir led by Catriona Twomey, and Dunne’s family and friends from The Montforts. The production even featured a well-behaved labrador named Ollie, adding to the authentic Cork charm.

Cork face Tipperary in their first All-Ireland final meeting on Sunday, 20th July, with throw-in at 3:30pm in Croke Park. The Rebels are hoping to end a 20-year wait for the Liam McCarthy Cup.

With supporters preparing for the biggest hurling occasion in two decades, Dunne’s timely tribute to Cork offers a soundtrack to the county’s hopes and dreams.
