Cork St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2025: Starts at 13:00

The Cork St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2025 is set to bring the city to life on Monday, 17th March at 1pm, embracing this year’s theme, “Building A Better World.” Inspired by the UN International Year of Co-operatives, the parade encourages participants to showcase the power of collaboration and unity within communities.

A Parade for All

This much-anticipated event will feature sports groups, dance schools, brass bands, and international guests, making it a true celebration of Cork’s diversity and creativity. Expect a lively spectacle filled with music, colour, and culture, with thousands expected to line the streets to soak in the festive atmosphere.

For those unable to attend in person, the parade will be live-streamed from 12:45 PM on the Cork City Council website(link to be provided when available), allowing people from near and far to join in the celebration.

Accessibility & Inclusion

Cork City Council has ensured that the St. Patrick’s Day Parade is as inclusive as possible. An Irish Sign Language (ISL) interpreter will be stationed at the Grandstand location on Patrick’s Street, beside the statue of Fr. Mathew, providing greater accessibility for the Deaf community.

A designated area for wheelchair users, visitors with reduced mobility, and those who require extra space will also be available. While this area will be unreserved, further details will be confirmed closer to the date.

To support those who may benefit from additional preparation, AsIAm has developed a Social Story for attending the parade, which can be accessed here: AsIAm Social Story.

Garda Traffic & Safety Plan

An Garda Síochána will have a comprehensive policing plan in place across Cork City from Friday, 14th March until Tuesday, 18th March 2025 to ensure a safe and enjoyable St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Traffic Restrictions & Road Closures

To accommodate the parade, Gardaí will implement rolling road closures and traffic restrictions across the city centre from early Monday morning, 17th March. The parade will commence from Parnell Bridge/South Mall at 1pm.

Motorists should take note of the following:

  • Parking along the parade route is prohibited, and any vehicles found there will be towed.
  • Plan your journey in advance and follow all road signage.
  • Listen to instructions from Gardaí and parade stewards to ensure a smooth and safe event.
  • If parking legally, ensure your vehicle is secure and does not block emergency access routes.

Safety Advice for Socialising

Gardaí will be highly visible across the weekend to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration. If you are socialising this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, keep these safety tips in mind:

  • Plan your night out – let someone know where you’re going and when you expect to return.
  • Keep an eye on your personal belongings, especially in crowded areas.
  • Do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and be mindful of residual alcohol the morning after.
  • Stick together – don’t let friends walk home alone. Safety is in numbers.
  • If walking home, stay in well-lit, populated areas and ensure you’re visible to traffic.
