Gardaí are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a serious assault that took place in Dunmanway, on the evening of Saturday, 17th August 2024. The incident occurred shortly after 7pm.

Two men, both aged in their 30s, sustained serious injuries during the assault and have been transported to Cork University Hospital for medical treatment.

The scene of the incident has been preserved for a technical examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

In connection with the assault, two men, aged in their 30s and 70s, have been arrested. They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in the Southern Region.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
