M8 Rathcormac Toll Experiencing Only Slight Defats as Cork Fans Head to All Ireland Final

Cork supporters are experiencing only minor delays at the M8 Rathcormac toll plaza this morning as thousands make their way to Dublin for today’s All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final against Tipperary at Croke Park.

Traffic began building around 07:45 this morning on the northbound carriageway approaching the Condonstown Toll Plaza at Watergrasshill. However, Jerry Buttimer TD has reported:

“No problems at the first toll,” with only minor delays affecting motorists as they pass through the toll barriers on their journey to the capital for the 15:30 throw-in.

Congestion could affect the 15-kilometre stretch of the M8 between Junction 17 (Watergrasshill) and Junction 14 (Fermoy North), operated by DirectRoute (Fermoy) Ltd. Car drivers face a €2.30 toll charge, while those travelling in vans or coaches pay €4.10 each way.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland has issued advice for supporters travelling to Croke Park, warning:

“Expect busy roads! Toll Roads – Be ready: N8 Rathcormac – Fermoy Bypass M7/M8 Interchange – Portlaoise €2.30 (cars) / €4.10 (vans) each way.”

Busy conditions are expected to continue throughout the morning as Cork supporters make their pilgrimage to Dublin, hoping to see their county claim hurling glory for the first time since 2005.

Motorists are advised to check back later for further information or updates.
