New Speed Safety Cameras to Begin Operating in Wexford and Cork

An Garda Síochána has announced that new static speed safety cameras will commence operation on Friday, 2 May 2025, at midday. The cameras are located on the R772 at Ask, Gorey, Co. Wexford and the N22 at Farnanes, Co. Cork.

From noon on Friday, vehicles detected driving above the posted speed limit at these locations will be subject to prosecution through the Fixed Charge Notice system. Offenders will receive a fine of €160 and three penalty points on their licence.

“Safety Cameras Save Lives,” said a Garda spokesperson in the announcement. The introduction of these cameras is part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and reduce speed-related accidents in these areas.

The static speed safety camera in Wexford has been installed at Ask, Gorey, while the Cork camera is situated at Farnanes on the N22. Both cameras have undergone testing prior to their official activation.

Motorists travelling in these areas are advised to observe posted speed limits to avoid penalties and, more importantly, to ensure the safety of all road users.

Further details regarding the Fixed Charge Notice system can be found on the official Garda website.
