Uisce Éireann has announced that customers in Ardfield, Reenascreena, and Clonakilty Town will experience nighttime water restrictions starting from 11:00 pm tonight until 6:30 am tomorrow, 28 August 2024. These measures are being implemented to maintain a steady water supply during daytime hours, with those in high ground areas expected to notice a reduction in water pressure and flow during the restrictions.
Niall O’Riordan, Uisce Éireann, addressed the situation, stating:
“We understand the inconvenience nighttime restrictions can cause and want to thank the community for their understanding. These restrictions are required to give the reservoirs time to replenish and are necessary during off-peak hours, as it is possible that there would be insufficient water supply to homes and businesses during daytime hours without some measures being put in place. We will continue to monitor the situation.”
Due to ongoing low reservoir levels, Uisce Éireann is urging both homes and businesses to be mindful of their water usage to help conserve supply and allow the reservoirs to recover. Customers are encouraged to visit Uisce Éireann’s website at www.water.ie/conserve for water-saving tips, including a conservation calculator that helps track current water usage and offers guidance on further conservation efforts.
