Road Safety Alert: Storm Darragh – Orange Weather Warning Issued for Munster Tonight


Met Éireann has issued a Status RED weather warning for Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo as Storm Darragh brings extremely strong and gusty northwest winds to Ireland. The warning, in effect from 10pm to 3am tonight, advises of potential fallen trees, damage to power lines, wave overtopping, and risks of property damage. Travelling conditions are expected to be dangerous and treacherous.


The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is urging all road users in the affected counties to avoid travel during the storm window, highlighting the life-threatening dangers posed by the severe weather. The RSA is also advising the public to exercise extreme caution over the weekend as ORANGE and YELLOW warnings are also in place, bringing additional risks of strong winds and heavy rain.
