Status Yellow Rain Warning Issued Could Impact Cork Supporters Returning from All Ireland Final

Cork supporters travelling home from today’s All Ireland hurling final are being advised of a Status Yellow rain warning that will affect key routes from Dublin from midnight tonight.

Met Éireann issued the warning at 08:28 this morning, covering Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Meath, Wicklow and Monaghan from 00:00 Monday until 12:00 Monday. The warning coincides with when many supporters will be making their return journey after tonight’s festivities, regardless of the match outcome.

The weather service is forecasting spells of heavy rain with a chance of isolated thunderstorms across the affected counties. Potential impacts include localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions on major routes including the M7 and M8.

Supporters planning to stay overnight in Dublin and travel home on Monday morning should factor in extra time for their journey. Those driving home tonight after the match may encounter the onset of heavy rain as they approach the Kildare and Wicklow areas.

The warning affects counties that thousands of Cork supporters will travel through on their return journey via the M7/M8 route. Motorists are advised to reduce speed, maintain safe following distances, and use headlights even during daylight hours when visibility is poor.

The 12-hour warning period covers the peak travel time for supporters returning home on Monday morning, particularly those who may have extended their Dublin visit following the final.
