Water Supply Disruption in Charleville as Uisce Éireann Repairs Major Burst

Uisce Éireann crews are working round the clock to repair a significant water pipe burst in Charleville that has disrupted supply to customers across the area.

The utility company has confirmed that the burst has been located at Smiths Lane, with repair work currently underway. Michael Bell from Uisce Éireann has assured affected customers that every effort is being made to restore full water supply as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue,” said Bell.

The repairs are expected to be completed by 1:00 AM tomorrow morning. However, customers should be aware that it typically takes two to three hours following completion of repairs for normal water supply to be restored to all affected areas. Those at the end of the network or on higher ground may experience longer delays as the system recharges.

To ensure the safety of repair crews and members of the public, traffic management measures have been put in place around the work site and will be clearly signposted.

Uisce Éireann has reminded customers that vulnerable individuals who have registered with the company receive direct communications regarding planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. Registration for vulnerable customer status is available through the company’s website.

The utility company maintains 24/7 customer communications across multiple platforms, including their website, social media channels @IWCare and @IrishWater on X, Facebook and LinkedIn. Customers can also contact the customer care helpline at 1800 278 278, which operates around the clock.

Additionally, Uisce Éireann offers a free text service providing real-time updates for local issues. Customers can register for this service using their Eircode and mobile number through the company’s website.
