Weather Forecast: Mixed Conditions Expected as Atlantic Systems Approach Ireland

Ireland is set to experience a transition from pleasant evening conditions today to increasingly unsettled weather over the coming days, as Atlantic weather systems bring rain and cooler temperatures to the region.

This evening will remain dry with sunny spells across the country, providing a pleasant end to Thursday. However, conditions are expected to change overnight as cloud builds from the west, potentially bringing light rain and drizzle to western coastal areas by morning. Clear skies elsewhere will allow patches of mist and fog to develop, with overnight temperatures dropping to between 6 and 9 degrees in light winds.

Friday will see a gradual deterioration in weather conditions, starting dry and bright in eastern areas before western cloud spreads eastwards throughout the day. This advancing weather front will bring outbreaks of rain and drizzle, with temperatures reaching 14 to 17 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.

The weekend outlook indicates a more pronounced shift towards unsettled conditions. Saturday is forecast to be particularly wet and breezy, with rain spreading from the west and becoming heavy at times later in the day. Despite the wet conditions, it will feel humid with temperatures reaching 16 to 20 degrees in fresh southwest winds.

Sunday offers some improvement with brighter conditions and sunny spells expected, though scattered showers will become widespread through the morning and afternoon. The day will be noticeably cooler, with temperatures ranging from 12 to 16 degrees in fresh westerly winds.

Looking ahead to next week, the unsettled pattern is expected to continue with further outbreaks of rain, though temperatures may recover slightly towards the mid to high teens. Monday will remain breezy and showery with limited sunny spells and temperatures similar to Sunday’s range.

For those planning outdoor activities, pollen levels are forecast to be moderate on Friday and Saturday, whilst the UV index will mostly remain low, though it could reach high levels in any sunshine that breaks through.
