Uisce Éireann has announced overnight water restrictions for Mallow and surrounding areas starting tonight, with supply interruptions expected from 10pm to 7am each night over the weekend to ensure adequate daytime water supply.
The restrictions, which begin Friday 11 July and continue through the weekend, will affect customers in Mallow South including Bearforest, Ballyellis, Ballydaheen, Gouldshill, Carhookeal, Quartertown and surrounding areas. During these overnight periods, residents may experience supply interruptions or reduced water pressure.
Niall O’Riordan, Water Operations Manager at Uisce Éireann, said:
“We understand the inconvenience nighttime restrictions can cause to the community; however, given the increased demand they are essential to maintain a daytime water supply. We are asking people to support us and take a few simple steps to reduce their water use in their homes, businesses, and gardens, such as taking a shorter shower, placing a basin in the sink and fixing leaking taps.”
Customers should allow three to four hours after the estimated restoration time for supply to fully return. There may be some short-term discolouration as water returns to the network following the overnight restrictions.
Uisce Éireann recommends several water-saving measures including watering gardens with a watering can rather than a hose, washing cars with a bucket and sponge, turning off taps while brushing teeth, and ensuring appliances like dishwashers and washing machines are fully loaded before use.
The utility company offers a free text service providing real-time updates for local issues. Customers can sign up with their Eircode and mobile number at www.water.ie, where water-saving tips and a conservation calculator are also available.
For updates and information, customers can contact Uisce Éireann through their website, X channels @IWCare and @IrishWater, or their 24/7 customer care helpline at 1800 278 278.
